I often get asked by my Hollywood Florida bankruptcy clients approximately how much will the entire process costs. My answer is always – it depends on the type of bankruptcy you are doing and the complexity of your bankruptcy case. I can give general answers to the following bankruptcy chapters:
Chapter 7 Bankruptcy
A typical Chapter 7 bankruptcy would cost a debtor $1500 and that fee includes the court filing costs. However, again in cases where the bankruptcy will be complex due to numerous factors, the price could increase substantially. Chapter 7 fees are due in full PRIOR to filing for bankruptcy.
Chapter 13 Bankruptcy
A typical Chapter 13 bankruptcy would cost a debtor $3,500 over the life of the bankruptcy plan. That doesn’t mean that the debtor is required to pay the $3,500 prior to the bankruptcy filing. Rather a debtor would need to pay $1,500 prior to filing and then pursuant to the bankruptcy plan pay the attorney fees on a monthly basis for a period of up to 60 months.
